Historic Transport Show – a classic not to be repeated?

0

LYMM’S first ever Historic Transport Show has been hailed a great success – but organiser Alan Williams is in no rush to put the show on the road again next year.
Thousands of people flocked into the village throughout the day following a parade of classic cars, while a flotilla of barges and narrow boats converged on the Bridgewater Canal.
Thankfully the early morning rain which threatened to wash out the event cleared as the vintage vehicles paraded onto the May Queen Field attracting visitors from far and wide.
BUt the amount of organisation involved required a near military operation and although a great success Alan says he has no plans to bring the show back to next year’s Lymm Festival.
Visitors to the event included local TV celebrity Matthew Corbett, who had the honour of being patron of the Historic Transport Show and infamous pirate Jack Sparrow (pictured right) who could be seen on the banks of the Bridgewater Canal plying his trade!
