Electrical fault believed to have started car fire at Birchwood

FIREFIGHTERS were called out earlier today following reports of a car on fire at Birchwood, Warrington.

At 08:12 one crew from Birchwood was called out to reports of a car on fire on Clayton Road.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to put out a fire at the rear of the car. Once fully extinguished, crews completed a full check of the vehicle for any hot spots.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault. No casualties were reported at the scene.

In another incident at 14:58 today one fire crew from Lymm was called out to a suspected vehicle fire in the The Crescent, Lymm.
On arrival, firefighters removed the battery from under the bonnet and cooled it to prevent a fire.
