A young schoolboy has raised over £3,000 for two new defibrillators in his local community after his Grandad, two uncles and a close friend suffered heart attacks in quick succession.
Harrison Rylands, aged 11, Head Boy at Chapelford Village Primary School decided to do some fundraising by walking up Snowden in May this year.
He raised over £3,000 to install two outdoor 24-hour access defibrillators in the local community. One at Chapelford Farm Pub and one at McDonald’s Gemini.
The staff will be given full training by a local company Trauma and Resuscitation Services based in Burtonwood, where the equipment was purchased from.
Harrison’s mum Louise said: “We would also like to give special thanks to Paul McClennan Electrical, another local company based in Risley. Paul and his team kindly fitted both of the defibrillators for us. And really to everyone who has donated, Harrison was blown away with the kindness of people both at school, friends and family who gave to the cause.
“He hopes to do further fundraising in the future.”
Harrison was inspired after his granddad, two uncles and a friend all suffered heart attacks in a short space of time. While his grandad and uncles, survived, his friend sadly died and a defibrillator might have saved his life.
