Triggerpond pub set to reopen after £100,000 refresh

THE Triggerpond pub at Great Sankey is set to reopen this weekend after a £100,000 refresh, when Olympian Lucy Renshall will be a special guest.

The pub is undergoing an intensive refresh which will include an array of new soft furnishings and including a newly designed bar area as well as the introduction of a new menu. The investment adds a modern take on the traditional community pub.

It is currently set to reopen this Friday 22nd July, to mark the occasion, Manager Karina Rodgers has a range of events around the reopening weekend, which will include a visit from judo champion and Olympian Lucy Renshall, who has been invited to reopen the pub.

Lucy from St Helens, competed in the women’s 63 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. She is the 2021 Judo Grand Slam Antalya champion in the -63 kg class. She also won the gold medal in her event at the 2021 Judo Grand Slam Baku held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, the pub’s new food and drinks menu showcases features such as 2 courses from £9.25 on selected dishes from Monday – Friday 12pm – 4pm, the addition of a full grill menu, as well as best in pub classics and curries. Weekly specials will include Steak Nights, a new extensive cocktail list and Weekly Quizzes on Fridays with Jack The Joker.
Looking forward, events don’t stop there, live entertainment is booked for 23rd August with singer, Kelly Cresswell, followed by a visit from Tribute artist Neil Diamond on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 28th at 19:00.

Karina Rogers has been General Manager of the Triggerpond for three years and has worked with Marston’s Pubs for over 30 years. She is well-known to the locals and hospitality world and will be seeing all the works go ahead throughout the next week.
Karina said: “This is such an exciting moment for the Trigger Pond, a great step forward with our fantastic new menu and great new look.
“We have an exciting range of cocktails and drinks but we also want to provide a great experience for our guests to remember. We have a fantastic team here and we’re a great pub, with great food and are here to be the heart of the community.’
The pub has a team of 20 already and the refresh will be creating a further five jobs area following the investment.
