Two more COVID-19 deaths as inpatient numbers rise to above 50 and hospital emergency department reports heavy demand

TWO more COVID-19 deaths have sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital since yesterday, with more than 50 confirmed COVID inpatients and the hospital emergency department also experiencing very heavy demand.

Infection rates have risen from 201.5 to 215.4 in Warrington since yesterday, while hospital inpatient numbers have increased from 49-52, while five patients have been discharged since yesterday.

As of 5:30 pm today, Wednesday at Warrington Hospital Emergency Department reported the longest waiting time to see a doctor or nurse was Over 4 hours with 47 waiting and 114 patients in the emergency department.

Current inpatients as of Wednesday, June 29, 2022 compared to Tuesday, June 28 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 52 (49) including 0 (0) in ICU.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 649 – 309.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 277.2
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 696 – 332.4 per 100,000.

*There have been 451 (422) COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington over the past seven days taking the total to 79,081 – 74,188 1st infections, 4,893 second (78,994) and an infection rate of 215.4 (201.5) per 100,000 which has risen again compared to a rate of 194.4 (187.4) for England.

  1. I have to say that I’m not really surprised with all those music festivals and other large gatherings going on. Walking day could see another sharp rise. I think it’s time to revert to masks.
