Police alerted following deliberate fire at primary school and suspected arson attack on car

POLICE have been alerted following a deliberate fire at a Warrington primary school last night, while a car was also torched at Bewsey during the early hours of this morning.

At around 9:15 pm one crew from Penketh was called out to reports of a deliberate fire within the grounds of a primary school in Finlay Avenue, Penketh.

The crew used a small hand appliance to extinguish the fire which had been started on a play area. Police were called to inform them of the damage caused.

In another suspected arson incident one crew from Warrington was called out at 02:46 this morning to Haryngton Avenue, Bewsey to reports of a car fire.

Firefighters used a set of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire believed to have been set deliberately.

Meanwhile, in another suspected arson incident, one crew from Warrington was called out at 05:16 this morning following reports of a wheelie bin fire on Padgate Lane.

Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
