WARRINGTON is playing a key role in this week’s University of Chester “Collaborating for Change Week”
The aim of the week is to collaborate to transition to a net zero world in the run up to the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on October 31 – November 12.
Workshops throughout the week will focus on exploring the impacts and opportunities to influence change from a global, local, University and personal level and how to influence change in our wider community.

Tomorrow ( Tuesday) the event will focus on national and local action, which will include speakers from Warrington Borough Council, as well as Cheshire West and Chester Council and Shropshire Council.
At the event the council will provide an overview of local climate emergency plans and activities in Warrington, as well as its commitment to be carbon neutral and what they are working on for the climate agenda.
The council declared a climate and ecological emergency in 2019. Its ambition is to achieve carbon neutrality in its own operations by 2030 and also work with others to help the borough of Warrington reach carbon neutrality as soon as possible.
The council is also encouraging businesses to join and make a commitment to act. All businesses, great and small, have impacts and each business is needed to commit in order to tackle the climate emergency.
Cllr Hitesh Patel (pictured), cabinet member for environment said: “It’s vital that we work together at a local, regional, national and global level to tackle the climate emergency we all face.”
“The Collaborating for Change Week gives us an opportunity to share our journeys to net zero, share success stories and reaffirm our commitment to take action.
“We have a strong story to tell in Warrington and we are pleased to have the chance to share this with a range of organisations.”
“There’s lots more still to do and we will be working hard to keep the momentum going now and in the future.”
