Council cabinet meeting to be broadcast live

WARRINGTON Borough Council’s Cabinet meeting tonight, Monday, September 13, will be web-cast live, following the council’s investment in live-streaming technology for council meetings.

The new broadcasting solution will initially be used for Cabinet and Development Management Committee meetings that take place at the Town Hall.
Cabinet papers for Monday’s meeting have been published, with discussion items including the council’s refreshed corporate strategy and the draft Local Plan.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Russ Bowden, said: “During the height of the coronavirus pandemic, we saw engagement in our council meetings increase as we moved to a remote model, when we had no option but to move our meetings online.
“Since then, despite meetings having to revert back to face-to-face, we have been keen to find a solution that would allow people to follow council meetings without necessarily having to attend in person.
“Council meetings are an important part of how local authorities work and make decisions. I’m therefore very pleased that from Monday, residents will be able to watch Cabinet, and other council meetings, from the comfort of their own homes.”
To watch the Cabinet meeting, the only prerequisite is a device that can connect to the internet. The meeting link will be published on the afternoon of Monday 13 September at warrington.gov.uk/committees
