MANOR Road Tennis Club at Lymm served up an ace to help veteran member Ralph Chambers celebrate his 90th birthday.

To mark the occasion the club held an American Tournament at Manor Road and an afternoon tea with a birthday cake as part of their celebration for Ralph, who has been a member at the club for nearly 40 years.

Married to wife Pam for 69 years the couple moved to Lymm from Manchester.
Ralph continues to play at veterans tennis and still has a fast serve and can occasionally serve an ace!
He is an active committee member and is very involved with Lymm Baptist church
He regularly visits old people in residential homes and takes the elderly for hospital and dental appointments – many of whom are much younger than him!
Previously he ran Children’s Holiday Clubs for all Lymm Primary schools and the surrounding district.
Committee member Yvonne Halford said: “Ralph is a person that would go out of his way to help anyone, never complains or asks for any help for himself – he is a remarkable person!”
Manor Road is a friendly, inclusive and ambitious small club based in Lymm and an LTA registered club. They were awarded Tennis Clubmark Accreditation by LTA in 2010.
The club has merged with Lymm Rugby Club (LRC) to become their Tennis Section and is now part of a multi-sports hub. They will have 4 new floodlit courts and better facilities once completed.
