ACTIVE Adventures is coming to Warrington in honour of the Olympics which has had to be postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The lead for physical activity and sport across Cheshire and Warrington, Active Cheshire, will release an opportunity of a lifetime in the upcoming days. If it is action-packed voyage you want, keep your eye out on the 28th of May 2020 for the Active Adventurers launch.
As the Olympics has been postponed Active Cheshire would still like to honour the Games through movement during 2020. Collaborating with Warrington Youth Club (WYC), three young applicants will be selected to climb their way up one of the world’s great natural wonders.
The Active Adventurers challenge opportunity for three young women to demonstrate the values of the Olympics/Paralympics whilst creating their own legacy. The hope is that this will see them overcome challenges/barriers, build resilience, give them confidence and see them become not only a role model for everyone who follows their journey, but also to show themselves what they are capable of.
Applicants will demonstrate the values of the Olympics, whilst tackling inequality and creating a legacy not just for themselves but for WYC and the people around them – their families, friends, communities and people who follow their story.
To help inspire others to move more, Active Cheshire, WYC are going to provide these women support and funding to tackle one of the toughest challenges they will ever do. This sits well with the mission and aims of both the Olympics and Active Cheshire – both works to embed sport and physical activity in society, alongside important values, through engaging communities, stakeholders and partners. This is achieved through engaging, enabling, inspiring, educating and influencing.
Active Cheshire aim is to create something lasting which will impact on people’s lives in a positive way. The Olympics looks to do this through a four-year Olympic games cycle. These women will look to do this through the length of their journey. Creating legacy not just by fundraising for WYC and inspiring others, but also for themselves through this experience.
