3 reasons why car sharing is a great idea

Are you thinking about car sharing with friends, family members or colleagues? Not sure whether to go for it or not? Then you’re in the right place! Here are three key reasons why car sharing may be better than you once thought.

It’s greener

Most people are aware of the effect car emissions have on the environment. As engines burn fuels such as petrol and diesel, they emit greenhouses gases that significantly pollute the air. Not only does this damage the environment, but also human health. In fact, the World Health Organisation state that the transport sector “is responsible for a large proportion of urban air pollution” which “increase the risk for cardiovascular and respiratory disease, cancer and adverse birth outcomes, and also are associated with higher death rates”. By reducing the number of cars on the road, we can reduce the amount of pollutants emitted into the atmosphere. This is a huge benefit of car sharing with friends, family and colleagues.

It’s can improve your relationships

When your car share with friends or colleagues, you are increasing the amount of time you spend with them. This may have a positive impact on your relationship with these people, as it gives you more time to connect and bond with one another, instead of riding solo in separate vehicles. Plus, carpooling is a great way to forge new friendships with people you may not know so well. For instance, if a new colleague happens to live close by, car sharing is a great opportunity to build a new friendship with them.

It could save you money

Of course, buying and financing your own car can be expensive. It’s not just the initial price tag you need to cover, but also ongoing insurance, tax, repairs, maintenance, MOTs and so on. Plus, if you drive regularly to work or to meet friends and family, you’ll need to pay for petrol regularly too. The more you drive, the more you’ll need to fill up, the more money you’ll spend. This is where car sharing could save you money, as you can split the cost of petrol with friends or colleagues instead of you all forking out separately for petrol to run your own cars.

So, if you’re looking for ways to cut the cost of your current commute, you’re on a mission to reduce your carbon footprint, or you want to forge new friendships, car sharing may be for you. Remember, if you’re looking to buy a new vehicle and car share, there are various options available, including car finance from companies like Go Car Credit. It’s important to establish a budget and consider ongoing costs before purchasing.

  1. It is difficult to agree that sharing one car between families can strengthen your relationship. Rather, there will be more disagreements and quarrels. I would prefer if not buying, then renting my car here. Especially now you can rent a really luxury car. And you should not think about where it is now, and when to get free, or who will need it and who can take it. You will just enjoy the ride and not worry about these issues.
