Business bank lands award for commercial mortgages

1

WARRINGTON based Challenger Bank Redwood has been recognised for its commercial mortgage lending by winning a major international award.

The bank has been named ‘Best Commercial Mortgages Bank of the Year – England’ in the annual Global Business Awards, organised by Corp Today magazine.

Redwood’s CEO and Co-Founder Gary Wilkinson said: “Our customers are at the forefront of everything that we do, so it’s always an honour to be recognised for our work at industry awards because it proves we’re going above and beyond what is expected of us.

“We’re extremely proud to have been a winner at the Global Business Awards and it rounds off a tremendous 2019 for us.”

The latest triumph is the latest in a long line of awards picked up by the Bank in the past 12 months, including being named ‘one to watch’ in the Best Challenger Bank category at this year’s Growth Finance Awards.

The Bank, which celebrated its second anniversary in August, was also named Challenger Bank of the Year and SME Bank of the Year at the ACQ5 Global Awards.

Since its inception in 2017, Redwood Bank has invested heavily in technology, people and service, ensuring every customer’s experience is secure, fast and easy.

Corp Today is a specialist business magazine which focuses on emerging and fast-growing companies, their confrontational style of doing business and way of delivering effective and collaborative solutions to strengthen market share.

  1. Come on Hannah S. Let’s have some accurate reporting instead of this drivel.

This is not a ‘Warrington based bank’. It’s based in Hertfordshire and happens to have a branch office in Warrington. All the people in the photo are from the South. Let’s not pretend that this bank is performing for the benefit of SME’s in Warrington as was heavily advertised when we invested. A large proportion of its loans are to buy to let landlords not for SMEs – not what the Executive signed up to, and in truth less than 10% of loans are commercial loans for businesses in Warrington.

Rather than just repeating what press releases tell you and lazily use it to fill WWW column inches. Let’s have some more enquiry and real journalism. There are so many unanswered questions about Redwood and until Grant Thornton give WBC’s investment a clean bill of health you really should be more circumspect and enquiring.

Take a look at some of the Case Studies the bank publish and tell me it’s sensible to have lending criteria rules. Then when it suits abandon them and lend to a company which all other banks have declined and moreover then make a virtue of it. Doesn’t that tell you something about standards at the bank?

Remember major shareholders and director father and son Rowlands, colourful characters both and friends of Prince Andrew and dubious middle east royal families, could put Redwood into liquidation tomorrow and walk off with a huge profit leaving WBC to take the hit of an equivalent loss.
