Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid recently visited Broomfields Leisure Centre to learn more about the potential improvements for the site.
Commenting on the facility which adjoins Bridgewater High School at Appleton, he said: “It is well known that Broomfields Leisure Centre has been in need of serious attention for a long time.
“I have been pressing the Council and Livewire to invest in this key sport, leisure and wellbeing facility for south Warrington and I have made it clear that the work on this popular local community asset needs to be carried out as soon as possible.
“I understand that a proposal for refurbishment is currently being formulated and that the Council and Livewire are working together to explore the options.
“I am optimistic following conversations with Councillor Tony Higgins and Livewire that progress is now being made. However, I will continue to work with both the Council and Livewire to ensure that the much-needed works are brought forward as soon as possible.
“It is only right that residents south of the ship canal have the opportunity to enjoy modern facilities.”
