WHENEVER we run articles on the town’s buses it never fails to spark a huge amount of interest, none more so than when we reported on Warrington’s Own Buses winning the title of best small to medium sized bus company in the country.
A lot of the feedback included hints of sarcasm and passengers recalling problems, some of them years ago, which must be very frustrating for MD Ben Wakerley and his team who are working hard, in difficult circumstances to turn around the fortunes of our local bus company, Warrington’s Own Buses.
It has hard enough to run any business, but one which relies on the transport infrastructure of our town, or the lack of it, faces an uphill struggle keeping to timetables.
Add the problems of traffic delays caused by accidents and roadworks on our motorway networks and local highways, plus the added frustration of the various swing bridges sometimes swinging three or four times a day, it becomes an absolute nightmare.
I have reported on our local bus company for many years and it is not hard to see that Ben and his team take great pride in their jobs and are fully deserving of their latest title, which included an independent customer satisfaction survey.
Yes I know the service is not perfect especially when it comes to the lack of evening services for outlying areas of the town – but like any other business it is still expected to make a profit.
Some fares have been reduced, others have been frozen and a lot of work has gone into replacing the fleet with more environmentally state of the art vehicles.
While it is easy it criticise I would like to congratulate Ben and his team for their hard work and endeavours to provide our town with a bus company we can be truly proud of.

If you got the bus most days Gary I doubt you’d be making these comments. The service is substandard. Frequently buses don’t turn up at all. Even worse than the bus service though, is the customer service. When I complained on twitter they told me to fill in a form on their website. It’s been 2 months now since they said they get back to me about why a bus service didn’t turn up. This is not the first time this has happened. I’ve just stopped filling in the complaint form and am saving up for a second car for our family.

Hope you could fumigate the buses and give it a good clean for the passengers as most of the time these buses smells and not very good for passengers as they harbour a lot of virus and diseases.
