As an estimated one million people took to the streets of London protesting against Brexit, the Warrington 4 Brexit Group mounted a “hugely successful protest” in the centre of Stockton Heath.
The cross-party group of ordinary people, who are campaigning for the democratic vote in the 2016 referendum to be upheld, were buzzing after the show of support by car and bus drivers tooting their horns and the members of the public who queued to sign their petition calling on local MPs to respect the referendum result to leave the EU.
Some visitors from out of town made a special trip to show support, having seen Warrington 4 Brexit Group activity on Twitter and Facebook.
A spokesperson for the group said: “We’re delighted at the response from the people of Stockton Heath today. Many people came over at the rally to express their support and tell us how angry they are that Parliament voted to extend Article 50. They feel that their vote and that of their fellow 17.4 million leave voters is being betrayed.”
Members of Warrington 4 Brexit will join supporters from their sister group, Wigan Borough 4 Brexit to travel down to Westminster this Friday, March 29, for the climax of the Leave Means Leave March outside the Houses of Parliament. Their spokesperson said: “It’s vital that the voice of the Leave-voting Northern constituencies is heard in Westminster and democracy prevails.”
Warrington4Brexit will return to Stockton Heath for another rally next Saturday, 30th March from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm and they invite people wishing to sign their petition to visit their stand in the centre. Every time a link to their petition is posted on news stories clicking on it always returns a message from the Change Org website of ‘oops this is embarrassing we couldn’t find the page you were looking for’. They might gain more signatures if it actually worked…..
So 1 in every 250 turned out- it’s a joke like May
11 people there – not a very big turnout
I know more people personally from the Lymm area who went all the way to London for the People’s Vote march. Opinions are changing
nowt like a bit of optimism from the remain camp.
11 people there, well there may have been more but without a panoramic lens eleven was probably the max you can get in a frame.
If there had been more than they would have stood behind each other…
you mean like the ‘claimed’ million remoaners that went on their ‘I will stamp my feet and throw a tantrum if I don’t get my way march’ but official figures state at the most only 3rd of that many went.
There are no official figures that have been published. If you know otherwise and there are official figures available then post a link.
