WARRINGTON Town’s title aspirations could be hit by something completely out of their hands – after one of their league rivals were wound-up.
Doomed bottom-club North Ferriby United had a winding-up petition upheld at Hull County Court on Friday morning.
That could mean all their results are expunged from the records, though the Northern Premier League is yet to comment on the matter.
The Villagers’ scheduled league game at home to Bamber Bridge on Saturday has been postponed.
The Yellows have beaten North Ferriby twice this season, 5-0 and 4-0, while current leaders Farsley Celtic won 6-0 and 4-0.
That means that Warrington would actually gain a solitary goal on Farsley if the results are deleted from the table.
However, one of North Ferriby’s two wins this season came against South Shields, who currently sit third in the table.
That would mean they would leapfrog Warrington in the table by a point, and also mean they gain eight goals in goal difference on Paul Carden’s side.
Club sources are said to be extremely frustrated at the situation and the possibility of losing six points through no fault of their own.
Warrington have eight league games left to play, starting with a home clash with Whitby Town this Saturday.
They currently sit two points behind leaders Farsley, with the champions gaining automatic promotion to National League North.
The next four teams enter the play-offs, but in a controversial twist, for this season only, the play-off winners would have to go up against their counterparts from the Southern Central League to earn the second promotion spot to the sixth tier of English football.

Simplest way out is to award a 3-0 victory to the opponents for the upcoming games, the 3-0 is only an example.
