VIDEO: WARRINGTON residents in favour of Britain leaving Europe held a peaceful pro-Brexit demonstration in Warrington town centre today which unsurprisingly split opinion in the town.

The event took place at Market Gate  and was organised by a newly formed Warrington 4 Brexit group which has attracted cross-party support with plans for another meeting in Woolston on Thursday evening.

The peaceful  peaceful protest was aimed against those who are seeking to overturn the result of the 2016 referendum and to put pressure on the representatives of our town, including local MPs Faisal Rashid and Helen Jones to represent that result.

The majority of those attending the protest said they would prefer leaving Europe with “No deal” if a deal couldn’t be agreed on.

Prior to the referendum, Warrington was listed as “the seventh most Eurosceptic town in Britain.”

In the referendum, 62,487 Warrington people voted to leave Europe – 54.3 per cent.

A total of 52,657 voted to remain – 45.7 per cent.
