A GROUP of activists in favour of Britain leaving Europe are to hold a peaceful pro-Brexit demonstration in Warrington town centre tomorrow (Saturday).
The event will be held at Market Gate between 11am and 2pm by a group styling themselves Warrington 4 Brexit.
A spokesperson for the cross-party group said: “This is an opportunity for the people of Warrington who voted to leave the EU in the 2016 referendum to join us. We are for peaceful protest against those who seek to overturn the result of the democratic vote of 2016 and to put pressure on the representatives of our town to represent that result.”

Prior to the referendum, Warrington was described as “the seventh most Eurosceptic town in Britain.”
In the referendum, 62,487 Warrington people voted to leave Europe – 54.3 per cent.
A total of 52,657 voted to remain – 45.7 per cent.

    • They were elected by a majority in Warrington, but you think they should be deselected or voted out.
      Who doesn’t believe in Democracy?

Having spoken to my MP she does support the majority decision, but she does not support the deal proposed by our current Government, and like most of the country and a majority of elected MPs in Parliament she believes that No Deal would hurt our town and our country.

Given that is the view of the Labour party on the whole, deselecting them and replacing them with other Labour candidates would get the same issue. in that they dont back a deal that has been brought together solely by the Conservatives. Replacing them with a conservative MP (Who at the last election got 19.8% less of the vote share) still might result in an MP who doesn’t support this current deal, considering how many rebelled against it.

Not enough people believe in the current deal, not enough people believe in no deal, not enough people want another vote and no one can decide on how we’d go about getting another deal.

Basically there was a majority for us to Leave the EU, but not for how. That may take a lot more time to sort, but time is running out as we gave notice on Article 50 before working out what the majority of people wanted at the end of that… Which goes to show how silly all of Parliament were in rushing into it.

      • not all labour MP’s are for remain and the MP’s trigger Article 50 knowing the default positions was to leave without a deal, All labour and conservative MP,s stood on honoring the referendum in their manifesto which they are now backtracking on, not only are the MP,s not supporting leave they are actively trying to stop it via the letter they signed to stop any new money being spent to support a no deal

    • Only the Labour Party can deselect them, so that’s not going to happen, and only the electorate can vote them out, which won’t happen in a town that would vote for a Labour candidate whatever policies he/she embraced.

  1. The term ‘democracy’ is a farce in this country! The Brexit vote was based on lies and deceit! How many people would have made their decision to leave based on the promise (lie) by Boris to plough the money presently paid into Europe into the NHS? How many people voted leave to reduce immigration? this was always a lie – whilst European immigration may decrease, overall immigration from other parts of the world will not – in fact it could very possibly rise. For example, potential trade deals with India have included India insisting on ‘freedom of movement’ for their people. So it looks like the only major changes to immigration will be in the nationality of the immigrants! Also, Theresa May has now suggested that immigration will be controlled by only letting in workers on salaries over 30k – this will be disastrous for young Britons because if there’s a constant in-flow of skilled / professional immigrants then the British Govt and employers will not want/need to provide and pay for training schemes for British young people who would then end up the least prosperous in their own country! When the Govt say they want to deliver on the wishes of the people this is untrue – Brexit would in essence be just delivering on their lies! A second referendum would give people the opportunity to vote with a clearer idea of what staying in or leaving the European Union would entail. If having a second vote on Brexit is not ‘democratic’ then neither is having a second vote on Theresa May’s Brexit proposals!
