STOCKTON Heath Parish Council is investigating who is responsible for maintaining the Cheshire Railings at the junction of Lumb Brook Road and Grappenhall Road.
The council has received a complaint from a member of the public that the traditional black and white railings are rusting and require painting and restoration – but it is not the council’s responsibility.
Cllr Peter Walker said: “We are looking into this. It could be the borough council’s responsibility or that of whoever is responsible for maintaining Lumb Brook.
“But the complaint is certainly justified – the railings are in a poor condition.”
Cheshire Railings, steel, painted black and white and with a gently cured top, are common throughout the county and are often seen at road junctions where hedges were originally planted.
It is believed they date from shortly after the Second World War, although they may have existed before that, only to be removed to meet the need for metal to make armaments.

How out of touch is this councillor ? We have footpaths covered in rotting leaves grids and streets that are never cleaned holes all over the place Beech rd , Mitchell street, Cawdor street, Orchard street, and Farrel road.Rats are a common sight due to food waste from takeaways and restaurants. So called homeless beggars out side the supermarkets WHAT has happened to our once lovely village? Councillor you and your limp dem colleagues are so out of FOCUS.
