THE recent Avon Tyres Northern Formula Ford 1600 Race at the BRSCC Race Meeting at Oulton Park was a family affair for the McArthur’s from Warrington father Neil and son’s David and Tom were all in the starting line-up.
David driving his Van Diemen LA10, had to battle hard for his 4th place and close behind was father Neil also driving a Van Diemen LA10 taking 6th place. But Tom ran off the track on the first lap and ended in a gravel trap and was unable to get restarted.
” The boys are giving me a run for my money these days ” joked father Neil. ” I just could not get past Chris Middlehurst not matter how hard I tried” said David. Tom said ” I just spun opff and ended in a gravel trap and there I stayed”.
Tom also took part in the Kerax Hyperdrive ST-XR Challenge race swapping open single seater Formula Ford For a Ford Escort XRi. Tom challenged another Warrington driver Mark Noble driving a Ford Fiesta Si for 7th place but Mark hung on to 7th and leaving Tom in 8th place. “It was great to try out another type of racing and I really did enjoy my race in the Escort” said Tom.
