Travellers arrive at Silver Lane – again!

3

A travellers’ encampment has arrived at Silver Lane, Risley, Warrington, again.

Four vehicles arrived on the lane yesterday (March 20).

Warrington Council’s Gypsy and Traveller Support officers visited the encampment today to carry our welfare checks.

A section 77 notice will be served and if ignored the council will seek court action to evict the travellers.

Silver Lane has been targeted by the travelling community on numerous occasions in recent years. A barrier has failed to prevent them accessing the site.

  1. Gawd !! So are these the same ones who have been on Longshaw Street or the Orford Hub or another lot? They are all really taking the mickey again now either way !

  2. welfare checks again and again. surely if they are the same tribe who have moved on from another part of warrington then welfare checks would not be needed as their circumstances would not have changed in the short journey.

a check of vehicle registrations would confirm if this was the case and thus eliminate the need for constant welfare checks.

  3. Would double yellow lines painted along the whole length of Silver Lane enable the Police to move these frequent visitors on immediately without the need for frequent welfare tests and an over convoluted procedure involving so many services?
