VIDEO: THOUSANDS of people packed into Lymm village centre for the annual Carols Around The Cross event.

The village centre was packed with an estimated 4,000 people as Lymm Town Crier and local councillor Peter Powell led proceedings with a host of traditional Christmas carols and songs accompanied by Lymm Brass.

A total of 17 songs were performed from the opening number The Holly and the Ivy to the grand finale of Jingle Bells, with other popular favourites including Silent Night, Good King Wenceslas, Twelve Days of Christmas and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

Rev Beverley Jameson stood in for the absent Father Michael who had lost his voice!

Local councillor Bob Barr who was on stewarding duty believed it was a record turn out as families and friends entered into the spirit of the occasion showing plenty of commuity spirit.

warrington-worldwide was on hand to broadcast live from the event – see below.

  1. Wow that’s one heck of a huge turnout.
Well done to the organisers and to all those who went along and joined in. Now that’s what I call real community spirit. Happy Xmas everyone 😀

  2. What a wonderful sight! When I was a young girl, growing up in Lymm, a group of us would go door to door carol singing. Then we would head up to Lord’s Chip Shop for fish and chips and a bottle of Tizer! Merry Christmas Lymm! Doreen Harrison, nee Booth, Canada.
