Helicopter helps capture prisoner on the run from Thorn Cross

THE police helicopter was brought into to help capture a prisoner on the run from Thorn Cross Prison at Appleton Thorn near Warrington, earlier today.

Police successfully arrested a male in the Stretton area for an alleged escape from lawful custody at HMP Thorn Cross.

Various resources including air support and dog were brought in to help with the capture.

The male has been taken back into custody after being at large for a brief time.
