An travellers encampment of four caravans turned up at Silver Lane, Risley, Warrington, at the weekend.
A member of the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller team is visiting the site to carry out the necessary welfare checks.
Silver Lane has been visited by travellers on numerous occasions in recent years – so much so a barrier has been erected in a bid to block access.
The latest encampment arrived on Saturday.
Parish Cllr Sue Bland said: “A local resident rang me saying the site is in a mess and the food wagon which normally parks there can’t get in and has parked on the main road.
“This has been an ongoing issue. We need a transit site in Warrington. The travellers currently know if they arrive at a weekend they can stay for a few days before being moved on.”
*The travellers eventually vacated the site on Friday (Oct 6) and Warrington council arranged a clean up operation.

Hi, The encampment of travellers on Silver Lane are parked on an area that is governed by a road traffic restrictions. eg: parking allowed for three hours only and no return within two hours. They are also parked in disabled bays.
I wonder if the general public did this–how long would we be allowed to stay?
Personally, I believe that the council should be taking vehicles to cover the cost of ‘cleaning up after they leave.
Enough is enough.
They are still there as of 16:00 today
