Wolves run riot at Featherstone

WARRINGTON Wolves continued their 100% record in The Qualifiers with an emphatic 68-0 win away at Championship side Featherstone Rovers.

In the week following the announcement of the departures of Tony Smith and Peta Hiku, as well as the club revealing 2018 season ticket prices, it was a welcome walk in the park for the Wolves.

Having copped plenty of flak for a disappointing season, they put in a thoroughly professional performance to see off Featherstone with ease, running in 12 tries.

Hiku showed just what Warrington fans will miss next season, adding a hat-trick of tries to continue what will have been an impressive cameo in England, while youngster Harvey Livett chipped in 28 points, including two tries and 10 goals.

After nervy performances over Halifax and London in their other two games against Championship opposition, the heavy favourites finally hit their groove in this one.

Three tries inside six first half minutes put Warrington well on their way, and it was 38-0 at half-time.

The departing Andre Savelio and relatively recent signing Ben Pomeroy were also on the scoresheet, while Jack Hughes and Jack Johnson bagged two tries each.

Stefan Ratchford was the other Wolves player on the scoresheet to condemn Featherstone to their fifth loss of the series – a draw with London their only point to date.

The win virtually confirms Warrington will finish The Qualifiers on top of the pile, save for a dramatic collapse in their final game against nearest rivals Hull KR.
