VIDEO: THE new look temporary Warrington Market is officially open for business!

Longest serving Warrington market trader Josie Butterworth was on hand to perform the official opening with the town’s Mayor Cllr Les Morgan, who were joined by characters from Star Wars and Warrington Wolves’ mascot Wolfie.

The official opening attracted a large crowd and within seconds of opening the market was packed with customers eager to see the new facility which will provide a temporary home for the town’s market until the end of 2019.

On Monday work will begin on preparing the old market for demolition, to make way for a brand new facility on the existing site, linking with the old Boots building frontage on Bridge Street.

Business was certainly brisk for traders with visitors flocking into the market creating a vibrant atmosphere.

The market will also provide a home for the town’s community radio station Radio Warrington.
