LYMM Village is competing with hundreds of other villages throughout the UK to become Village of the Year 2017.
Channel 4 will feature the competition in programmes to be hosted by “Back to the Manor Born” and “Good Life” star, Penelope Keith, this Summer.
Competition will be extremely stiff and Lymm Parish Council is encouraging local residents to make the best possible application. A key feature is to say “Why I love Lymm”.
Cllr John Bamforth Deputy Chairman of the Parish Council said “We already think we know why people love Lymm but what we really need are some quotes we can use from both residents and visitors which we can use in our application”.
So if you “Love Lymm” could you email John with your personal view on “I love Lymm because………”, your contribution will be really helpful in making the application the best it possibly can be.

Entries are required before midnight on May 14.
Earlier this year Lymm figured in the Sunday Times “Best Places to Live” list. Lymm highly reagrded for its proximity to the M6 and the M56, ease of commuting to Manchester and Liverpool, its variety of shops, the Bridgewater Canal and its general “prettiness.”
The number of local festivals and events also scored highly for the village, with the annual Duck Race particularly impressing the newspaper.
The village has a special place in the heart of warrington-worldwide and Lymm Life Editor Gary Skentelbery, who lived in the village for more than 10 years.
He said: “I love Lymm because it is simply a unique village with many varied interesting events and festivals and local characters who care passionately about where they live.”

This would be a huge mistake as developers are using Lymm’s status as ‘one of the best places in the UK to live’ to build more and more houses in Lymm, therefore ultimately destroying it as one of the best places to live. So if we win Village Of The Year, it will directly lead to our winning ‘Worst Village Of The Year’ in 10 years time.
Sue, what a little ray of sunshine you are. You have no evidence to back up anything you say but one thing I have come to expect from people in this town is whenever there is anything that can be construed as the slightest bit positive there will come the whiners to pour cold water all over it. Lymm cannot thrive if it becomes a museum exhibit as you seem to want.
