A MAN ended up in hospital with a fractured skull and cuts to the back of his head after being attacked outside a Warrington pub.
Police today issued an appeal for information about the incident outside the Jolly Tanner pub, on Statham Avenue, Orford at about 9pm on Friday, March 17.
The victim, a man of 57, was drinking about the pub when he was approached from behind and struck over the back of his head.
He fell to the ground and loss consciousness.
The victim was taken to Walton Hospital in Liverpool where doctors discovered he had sustained a laceration to the back of the head and a fractured skull. He remained in hospital for several weeks and is now recovering at home.
Investigating Officer PC Lee Ellis said: “This was an unprovoked assault which caused the victim to sustain serious injuries; thankfully he is now in a stable condition.
“I’m keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, which occurred on St Patricks Day, and I would urge anyone who was at the Jolly Tanner public house or in the area at the time of the incident and has any information that may assist police to contact the team here at Warrington.”

Good to hear that the gent is recovering and I hope he suffers no lasting damage after his injury.
It’s shocking that someone would do that especially as it says it was an unprovoked attack. Unprovoked or provoked though makes no difference…this gent could have easily died from being attacked and the scum who did it needs to be caught and brought to justice !!
I have to ask though…..Why as it taken almost a month for the police to ask for witnesses to this attack ? People’s memoried fade and perhaps if it had been reported sooner and they had asked then they may have a better chance of catching the person who did it.
