ANTI-FRACKING demonstrators descended on Warrington today targeting Eddie Stobart’s premises off Winwick Road and at Stretton.
Police have confirmed that two protesters have been arrested for aggravated trespass.
The demonstrators say they are targeting Stobarts due to their links supplying fracking company Cuadrilla.
The protest brought traffic chaos on Winwick Road after protesters chain linked themselves on the premises. At Stretton a group of about 20 staged a slow march on the main public highway.
Protesters claim they prevented 100 vehicles leaving the depots.
Members of the Frack Off Extreme Energy Action network say the protests are aimed at highlighing the dangers of uncoventional gas extraction.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Cheshire police are aware of a protest currently taking place Hawleys Lane, Bewsey and Whitecross, Warrington.
“Officers gave the protesters a warning to leave. However, a failure to comply has led to the arrest of two men on suspicion of aggravated trespass.
“Our role is to impartially allow for peaceful protesting, while ensuring that others can continue in their legitimate business activities, or commuting. We will ensure access to emergency vehicles is maintained and try to keep disruption to a minimum.
A spokesperson for Eddie Stobart said: “We have a range of specialist equipment that we supply to the manufacturing, construction and related industries. Accordingly, one of our powder tankers recently carried out work on a site in Lancashire as part of our routine operations.”

Fracking is dangerous for the same reasons that you are asking people what they think about pollution caused by pollution outside of the schools. Transport, which will be a large part of the operations to start
fracking in earnest will be heavy and add a great deal of toxic pollution over the whole of the towns and
countryside where these operations are being carried out. The pollution caused by the increased fracking operations contain VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) include Dioxins which accumulate in the body
tissue lay down health damage which can occur at a later date. Here we are when the NHS is trying to
reduce the number of cancers and lung disease, the other powers that be are actually going to increase
these???
While I myself have taken part in many campaigns in order to protect the public health, it is important to
stay within the law, People have a right to express their concerns in particular when politicians are making
decisions, either from ignorance, or anything else. Attend Council Meetings, deliver leaflets, let your
councillors know that their seats at the next elections, ask your friend to do the same. One day.we will
will have an informed and genuine democracy.
It is increasingly apparent that neither the Government or the shale gas industry are conspiring together to cause willful harm to the population on a massive scale in their insistence on pushing this absurd process through against the wishes of the people and against common sense. This is criminality on a massive scale and the reasons are obvious. Personal investments in shale gas drilling companies, revolving door between corporate and political executives, bribery from drilling companies to appease and seduce local land owners and local institutions. If the state has become criminal in its intent and practice then it is perfectly valid, and indeed dutiful, for the people to take whatever action they feel necessary to prevent this industry from going forward. No violence is being used and the only people these protectors are endangering is themselves. Keep up the good work guys! We will fight them in the courts and the council meetings, we will fight them at the gates of their drill sites and suppliers, we will fight them in their offices and outside their homes if need be, and we will NEVER surrender. #WeSaidNo #FrackOff
