MOTORISTS and other road users are being invited to give their views on plans to redesign and improve two busy road junctions at Warrington.
They are the A57 Sankey Way/A574 Cromwell Avenue junction and the A57 Sankey Way approach to Sankey Green island.
Warrington Borough Council has secured £4.65 million funding from the government’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) and the bid included plans to improve the two junctions.
Town Hall chiefs would like motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who use the junctions to attend a drop-in session so they can determine what issues people experience. The comments will then be used when putting together new design proposals.
The session will take place on Tuesday October 16 between 2pm and 8pm at the Peace Centre, Peace Drive Warrington.
Cllr Linda Dirir (pictured), the borough council’s executive member for highways, transportation and climate change, said: “Improving these junctions is an important part of the sustainable transport fund strategy as it would help to relieve traffic congestion and improve conditions for buses, cyclists and pedestrians.
“I would urge people to make their views known by coming to the drop-in session at the Peace Centre or responding to the council using the contact details provided.”

I do think they should have another look at the Hawleys lane A49 junction,the Alban retail park must be suffering as the shoppers are starting to avoid the area,WBC still charging top business rates you can bet.
Re the two proposed redesign of the two roads in the article would it be possible for the council to upload some details of the ‘possible’ changes onto their website for those who maybe can’t attend that day but may be interested/affected and have views either because they travel that way or have businesses near there etc… please and thank you. It might stop people complaining after any changes are implemented too as the info would have been freely available for all to see and comment on should they feel a need to ……Appologies if they are already available online but I couldn’t find them.

Business rates are determined by the Valuation Office Agency rather than WBC. WBC collect business rates on behalf of central government.
Thanks for your comment. We don’t have any plans to put onto the website at the present time. The purpose of the drop in event is to determine the issues that current users experience when travelling through these junctions. This is the first stage in our consultation process and any feedback that we receive will be used to determine proposed designs which will then be consulted on.
