A homecoming parade has been organised for Warrington Wolves on Sunday August 29 to mark the team reaching the final of the Carnegie Challenge Cup for the second year in a row!
The parade will start at 4pm in Woolston when the team will return to home soil after their big game in London.
In a change to last year’s proceedings, the team’s open topped bus will make its way along Manchester Road (A57) between Woolston and the town centre passing the Rope and Anchor, Dog & Partridge, Ring’o’Bells and the Bulls Head among others.
This year’s procession route has been designed to allow fans the best views of the open-top bus and to give more people than ever the chance to welcome their sporting heroes home.
The parade is expected to take around 45 minutes to reach the town hall where the gathered crowds will see the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr John Joyce officially welcome the team home.
The players, coaching staff and club directors will then have an official photograph taken before joining the Mayor and Mayoress of Warrington and other distinguished guests for a civic reception in the town hall.
Public access to the front lawns of the town hall will be permitted from 3pm onwards.
Wolves match day MC Dominic Walker, will once again be on hand to entertain the crowds and provide updates on the progress of the team as they make their way back to the borough and along the parade route.
A dedicated disabled area with clear views will be provided at the front of the town hall lawns. Each wheelchair may be accompanied by one helper, carer, friend or family member.
There will be no parking available at the town hall for this event, however, free Sunday parking is available at Warrington Market and Golden Square.
Drivers should note a short series of road closures will be in operation in the town centre only during the procession at the junctions joining the parade route.
Public involvement in the procession comes to an end once the players enter the town hall for their drinks reception.

Great news. Shame they cant also go via Wilderspool Causeway past their old home and past Brian Bevan Island into town as that would be nice. We missed it last time and apparently it was a great atmoshphere so we ‘ll be there with the thousands and I hope they have the Trophy with them once again 🙂 PS the link to the map on the councils website doesn’t work 🙁 GOOD LUCK WOLVES !!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂
Another great day ….. I was there filming last year with Gary soaking up the atmosphere and we also interviewed the players and of course Tony Smith …… looking forward to returning once again…
Great if they win but having experienced 1990 when they lost not quite the same – willthere be another civic reception if they win the Grand Final as well?
probably !!!!! but i agree that if they do unfortunately loose the atmosphere will not be to hot ….
