Disappointing run continues for Town

WARRINGTON Town’s disappointing league run continued as they were held 1-1 at home against Bamber Bridge.
Despite taking a 21st minute lead thanks to a wonder goal from striker Gavin Salmon Warrington failed to kill off the game which they dominated for long periods.
Twice they hit the crossbar before a sucker punch in the 85th minute when Matthew Wright headed home for the visitors from a free kick.
Salmon had given Warrington the perfect lead with a wonderful left footed strike from outside the box.
Winger Anthony Hickey had Warrington’s best chance of extending the lead when his angled shot hit the underside of the bar and bounced clear early in the second half.
Warrington dominated the first half and had plenty of possession in the second half but as the game wore on Bamber Bridge looked threatening on the break and were duly rewarded.
Warrington’s frustrated manager Joey Dunn said his team had not been clinical enough in front of goal.
Town, who have now gone six games without a win, entertain Durham at Cantilever Park on Saturday, kick off 3pm, when they need three points if they are to remain in the play-off hunt.

Pictures show striker Gavin Salmon hitting his wonder goal, and taking on the Bamber Bridge defence and Anthony Hickey hitting the underside of the cross bar.
