Promotion push continues for Town

WARRINGTON Town continued their promotion push as they completed a league double over fellow play-off contenders Lancaster City with a 2-1 victory at Cantilever Park.
Town were slow out of the blocks as the visitors took an early lead after 10 minutes when skipper Andrew Teague headed home unopposed from a corner.
But Warrington gradually worked their way back into the game and were eventually rewarded two minutes into stoppage time when man-of-the-match Anthony Hickey headed home with a fine angled effort from just outside the six yard box to make it 1-1 at the break.
During a tight second half chances were few and far between as both sides cancelled each other out, with Lancaster seemingly more content to sit back.
Warrington saw the welcome return of striker Tony Evans from injury in the 50th minute as Alan Collins limped off with a slight groin strain.
Warrington kept on pushing, dominating midfield and were eventually rewarded in the 83rd minute from the penalty spot after a blatant handball.
Town fans held their breath as full-back Louis Corrigan stepped forward for the spot kick but they had little to fear as he blasted the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-1, giving the keeper no chance.
Warrington saw out the remainder of the game to take all three valuable points.
