Afghan heroes return

WARRINGTON people lined the streets today for the regimental homecoming of 1st Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment following their deployment to Afghanistan.
Crowds lined the streets applauding the regiment as they marched through town following a service of remembrance and celebration at St Elphin’s Parish Church, followed by a parade and reception at the Parr Hall.
The Mayor, Coun John Joyce took the salute from the Town Hall steps together with Colonel Steve Davies, Deputy Colonel, Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment. The Mayor also inspected the troops in Queen’s Gardens.

Pictures show the regiment marching passed Warrington Market and arriving at the town hall.
