Town wakes to first snow fall

WARRINGTON woke to its first snow scenes today, since the hard winter of January, with more snow forecast over the next 24 hours.
Nearly an inch of snow fell in some areas of the town but there was little impact on the roads which had been gritted by the council last night.
But with more snow being forecast during the next 24 hours police are warning motorists to take care on the roads and give themselves extra journey time.
After the problems caused by the heavy snow fall in January the council has extra stock piles of grit.
