Disappointing? Or downright lazy?

A REPORT to Warrington Borough Council’s Economy and Resources Overview and Scrutiny Committee says the response rate to a consultation on proposals to sell 13 pieces of land, estimated value more than £1 million, was disappointing in some areas.
Overall, there was a response rate of 20 per cent but in some areas it was as low as 11 per cent.
Who was being consulted? Well, the public of course. Including members of the council representing the areas affected.
The response rate among ordinary members of the public was 11 per cent overall. Disappointing, of course.
But it was not much better, at 13 per cent, among borough councillors.
And in nine areas, represented by 27 councillors, not a single councillor bothered to respond to the consultation.
It may well be, of course, that none of these 27 elected members wished to object to the proposals. But surely the least they could have done would have been to respond to that effect?
The fact that they did not is not just disappointing – it’s disgusting!
Of course, the report does not name the councillors. But the sites they were consulted on should offer a clue: Farrell Street/Howley Lane; land to the rear of Warrington Rowing Club; former public convenience, Winwick Road; Manchester Road junction; land at Green Street; garage site at Central Avenue, Orford; 4 and 6 Central Avenue and 89 West Avenue, Orford; Garage plot at Ellen Street, Bewsey; land at Currans Road, Orford.
