Bistro loses planning battle

3

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have thrown out a retrospective application for a new shop front at a bistro restaurant.
They have agreed with officers who claimed the timber shop front at Le Pierre Bistro, was out of character with the Stockton Heath Conservation Area and unsympathetic to the architectural detailing of the Grade 2 Victoria Building.
The decision has baffled local people who believed the restaurant’s makeover was attractive – and appreciated its good food.
Le Pierre Bistro took over the premises of the former Loch Fyne fish restaurant in London Road, Stockton Heath only a few months ago.
It immediately won praise for its food – but displeased planners with its new shop front.
Officers said it appeared the firm was more concerned with meeting its parent company’s corporate style than fitting in with the historic Victoria Building.
Councillors visited the scene before coming to a decision but eventually decided to go along with officers’ recommendations.
The fascia will now have to be replaced – unless the company mount a successful appeal.

  1. “historic Victorian Building”…… and since when has this mattered to this bunch of hypocites we have in the town hall? They knock down and disown real historic buildings in the town with gay abandon and then have the gall to criticise a company that is trying to make a crust in these difficult times…… Here’s to Le Pierre Bistro mounting a successful appeal! Or they could always shut down and move out of Warrington and put a few people on the dole in the process…… is that waht the Council want?

  2. Maybe the guys at Bistrot Pierre should contract out the planning application to those local people who enjoy no barriers to doing what they hell they like. Anybody got a phone number?
