Wolves tame Wildcats

A hat-trick of tries from winger Chris Riley (pictured above) helped Warrington maintain second spot in the Super League table as they overcame early season pace-setters Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 32-16 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium tonight.
It was Riley’s second hat-trick of the season as Warrington kept the pressure on Super League leaders Wigan who also won defeating Leeds 22-4 at the DW Stadium.
Ryan Atkins also bagged a brace against his former club while Chris Bridge, playing at loose forward scored Warrington’s other try.
Bridge also landed four goals as Warrington bounced back in style from last weekend’s defeat by St Helens.
The visitors tries came from Michael Korkidas, Aaron Murphy and Sam Obst while new boy Paul Cooke kicked two goals on his first start – at stand-off.
Warrington led 22-10 at the break as Riley’s treble took his tally to 10 tries for the season, putting him level with Wigan duo Amos Roberts and Pat Richards as the top try scorers so far in Super League XV.
It is already one more than Riley managed in 25 Super League appearances in 2009.
