WARRINGTON Wolves moved back up to 2nd in the Super League table after a hard fought 10-14 victory over Huddersfield Giants.
Missing the influential Lee Briers and Chris Bridge it took a second-half try from Chris Hicks to secure the victory.
Hicks’ try provided the only points of the second half after the teams went in level 10-10 at the break.
The lead was exchanged in a tight first half, with Matt King scoring the first of two tries to give Warrington an early lead.
King opened the scoring after just three minutes taking full advantage of a Huddersfield knock on.
Richie Myler deputised for the missing Briers and Bridge, landing his first conversion for the Wolves.
Kevin Brown and Paul Whatuira edged the Giants ahead before King levelled on 31 minutes after a quick handling move saw him squeeze in at the corner. Myler’s touchline conversion struck the cross bar.
In a tight second half the only try came from Hicks in the 66th minute following a good off-load by Paul Wood. Myler was wide with the conversion.
Warrington’s victory lifted them back up to second in the Super League table, two points behind Wigan.
