Higham set to miss cup clash

WARRINGTON’S Mickey Higham looks set to miss the Challenge Cup Semi-Final clash against his former club Wigan after being told he faces up to 12 weeks out with a torn bicep.
The hooker/utility player who has become a major impact player for the Wolves since joining at the start of the season, is devastated by the injury he suffered in the victory at Castleford.
Scans have confirmed a torn bicep and Higham has been told he won’t be able to move his arm for six weeks and will then face at least another six weeks of remedial work on the injury.
The news is a major blow for the Wolves as Higham is a proven performer in big games.
He came off the bench in the 2002 Grand Final victory over Bradford, but missed the 2004 Challenge Cup final after breaking an ankle in the warm up to the semi final at Warrington. When recovered he marked a fine 2004 campaign with inclusion in the Great Britain Tri Nations squad, and made his Test debut from the interchange in the victory over New Zealand at Hull. He signed for Bradford at the end of the 2005 season, only to have been involved in a player exchange with Terry Newton at Wigan before the 2006 season started, having made three more appearances for Great Britain in the 2005 Tri Nations series. After three years at Wigan he moved to Warrington at the end of 2008, and represented England in the World Cup, scoring his first Test try against the Kiwis in Newcastle.
