A WARRINGTON Wolves fan has been crowned the new Miss Cheshire.
Catriona Cameron, aged 22, has been following Warrington since she was first taken to a match as a little girl.
Now she is student completing a Masters Degree in Acting at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts – but still loves to watch the Wolves..
Catriona lives at Norton Village, near Runcorn, but spends a lot of time in Warrington.
Her interest in the performing arts developed while at school and she hopes to find work as a “Theatre in Education” performer.
She became Miss Cheshire as a result of coming first in the regional heat of the Miss Beauty Queen UK contest held at Middlewich.
She now goes into the final on May 2 and, if she won that, would go on to represent the UK at the international finals in Chicago at the end of July.
Catriona said: “I’ve never thought of myself as a very ‘girly-girl’ particularly not when I go with my Dad to watch Warrington Wolves Rugby matches and I’m screaming at the pitch!
“In fact in January I returned from a contract working in the Disney World theme park in Paris where I spent most of my time dressed up in a very un-glamorous sweaty, heavy animal costumes to entertain children!
“I was quite jealous of the girls who got to dress up as princesses in beautiful gowns and Tiaras, but now I have a crown of my very own and I don’t have to give it back at the end of the day!”
Catriona had her first dance lessons in Warrington and her first real job was as a performer at Gulliver’s World, where she was a dancer in the Christmas show five years ago.
“I was in an animal costume as Gully Mouse and must have enjoyed it because I went on to play Max the Mouse in the South of France.
“But when I went to Disney World at Paris I was too tall to play Mickey Mouse!”
Catriona will be representing Cheshire – including Warrington – at many events over the next 12 months.
