Music award for local student

TV presenter Lauren Laverne gave an award to a Warrington student at a ceremony at London’s Mermaid Theatre.
Former chart-topping singer Lauren presented the trophy for Outstanding Student of the Year to Warrington Collegiate student Jason Taylor, 37.
It was part of Access to Music’s (ATM) sixth annual awards ceremony. The night was to celebrate the achievements of ATM students in areas including musicianship, composing and entrepreneurial flair.
The evening featured performances from the cream of ATM talent and award winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. Special guests included Nitin Sawhney, and Goldie.
Jason, who has been playing keyboard and guitar since his school days, is influenced by 80’s music.
He said: “The awards ceremony was brilliant. There were some quality acts and Lauren was an excellent presenter.”
