Massive jobs boost from care provider

DESPITE the economic doom and gloom more than 1500 jobs are being created in the care sector across the North West, including Warrington.
Claimar Care, the national domiciliary care provider already employs around 3500 carers and support staff to look after individuals in their own homes, from the very young to the very old.
The new jobs will include at least 25 at the company’s Warrington office.
Home care allows independence, dignity and a sense of wellbeing that

is difficult to achieve in hospital or a care home.
The care sector is constantly growing because of the UKs ageing population and the government’s commitment to look after people at home as much as possible.
Chief Executive of the Birmingham based company Mark Hales said: “The 1500 positions we are actively recruiting are the continuation of our 2008/2009 programme for care contracts that we already have in place or are due to begin imminently.
We are constantly bidding on new contracts as they are renewed by local authorities across the country, so that number could well increase in the New Year.”
Carers in the domiciliary sector traditionally enjoy flexible working hours and have the opportunity to fit work around
other commitments, making care work particularly attractive for mums. Care giving is by no means a totally female domain, with an increasing number of men taking up the role. A good balance of male and female workers is important to be able to provide the right care worker when a service user expresses a gender preference.
Mr Hales added: “We make more than 80,000 care visits each week. Flexibility means deciding when care workers want to work, it also means that they can decide when they don’t. To guarantee that our service is effective, and to maintain that all important flexibility for staff, we need to constantly add to our teams. What we look for in a recruit is the right attitude and outlook. We provide training for everything else.”
“In a time when redundancies are being announced, it’s great to be able to keep taking people into a career that can be really rewarding.”
