UNIQUE coverage of the Paralympic Games, which will feature Warrington archer John Stubbs, will be broadcast
on the town’s community radio station, Radio Warrington, throughout the 10 day event.
As part of Radio Warrington’s working partnership with Warrington Disability Partnership this year’s 14th Paralympics Games in Beijing will be covered by a series of programmes, starting with an introduction to the Games today, Friday (Sept 5) from 5pm.
Basketball enthusiast and WDP’s assistant operations manager Dave Connor (pictured) will be joining Radio Warrington presenters Phil and H on the afternoon show from 5pm every weekday night with a round up of the days events in the Chinese Capital, right through to the Torch Handover event on September 17.
There will also be a celebration of the Torch Handover event at the Birchwood Tennis and Leisure Centre on September 17 with a range of activities including football, wheelchair basketball, boccia and wheelchair tennis. Radio Warrington will also be in attendance reporting live as the events unfold in Birchwood and Beijing.
Meanwhile Woolston based Stubbs hopes to bring more medal glory to Warrington in the archery section where he is one of the favourites in the open compound category.
He says he has been inspired by Warrington born rower Richard Egington who won a silver medal for Great Britain in the men’s eights.
