A STORM has broken over two separate plans to open hot food takeaway shops on a plush new estate of  houses costing up to £500,000.
Angry residents are bombarding councillors with objections to the proposals at Heatley Mere, off Birchbrook Road, Lymm.
The estate is already served by a Co-op store and upmarket hair and beauty salon.
But now planners have received applications for a Chinese takeaway and a pizza takeaway on either side of the hair salon.
Coun Sheila Woodyatt (pictured), a member of both Warrington Borough and Lymm Parish councils, said: "I have had more than 40 email protests in one day.
"People are saying the houses were sold as 'idyllic village living in a rural environment.'
"Now they are asking how this can be compatible with the stench of cooking and tasteless illuminated signs.
"No-one is objecting to the Co-op or the hair salon - they provide a useful service.
"But the idea of takeaway shops in such a location is totally unacceptable.
"The parish council is lodging an objection and I am asking that the matter be placed before the borough's development control committee with a view to both plans being refused."
Houses are still be offered for sale on the development at just under £400,000.
