POLICE seized drugs worth more than £1200 from a man carrying a dagger on a Warrington town centre street late at night.
Anthony Hather, 18, Trefoil Close, Birchwood, Warrington had 1,245 diazepam tablets in his possession along with a dagger wrapped in his coat when police arrested him and two friends on Bridge Street, Warrington Crown Court was told.
Hather pleaded guilty to possessing the drug with intent to supply and was given a 16-week jail sentence, suspended for two years.
Judge Thomas Teague also placed him under supervision for 12 months and ordered him to attend a rehabilitation programme.
Paulinus Barnes, prosecuting, said he could offer no evidence in relation to the dagger, as it belonged to another of the three arrested and Hather was simply carrying it.
He said police spotted the three men and the knife on CCTV and arrested them.
The tablets were on Hather, in three tubs and loose in his pockets.
David Ackerley, defending, said the tablets were not intended for commercial sale and that his friends would have used some of them.
He had not intended to commit criminal offences. Rather, his offending resulted from him being impulsive, immature and making wrong decisions.
