Wolves end poor run with 14 try thrashing

STEFAN Ratchford scored 28 points as Warrington Wolves ended a run of four consecutive defeats with an 80-0 thumping of Wakefield.
The Wolves ran in 14 tries, including a hat-trick for Richie Myler, in an emphatic victory against Super League’s basement club.
Tony Smith turned to 19-year-old Dec Patton, who made his debut at stand-off, and the academy product impressed to the extent that the coach declared after the match that he would be keeping his place for Thursday’s televised clash against Wigan.
Winger Gene Ormsby returned to the line-up and opened the scoring with the first of his two tries, while Myler, Toby King Daryl Clark and Ashton Sims all got on the scoresheet to give the Wolves a commanding 30-0 lead at half time.
On their worst run of form since 2009, and without a win since the middle of March, Warrington cut loose in the second half to ease the frustrations of the past four weeks.
Ormsby bagged an interception try before Ratchford got his try, to go with 12 goals for his impressive points tally.
Ben Westwood and Joel Monaghan nudged the score past 50, and then King, Myler and Ben Currie added more woe for Wakefield, who have now lost eight on the bounce.
