THE Warrington campus of Chester University is to throw open its doors next month to celebrate its 65th anniversary as a centre for education.
More than six decades after it opened as an education establishment, current and former students, staff and members of the public are invited to take a look behind the scenes to see what’s on offer to students today.
The site was first recognised by the Department for Education in 1949.
On Saturday, May 30, visitors will be able to explore the facilities and experience a day-in-the-life of a student, listening to short talks and lectures as well as join in interactive sessions from the seven academic departments based at the Fearnhead campus.
The open day will showcase the University’s prize winning work in television, radio and advertising, as well as teaching and consultancy in PR and marketing, links with local business and industry, engagement in sport and community and degree programmes in social work, policing, law and investigation, nursing, teaching and youth work.
Professor Peter Harrop, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Provost of the Warrington Campus, said: “The Warrington Campus combines the best of long-established university traditions with up-to-the-minute modern developments.
“We will be proud to give visitors an insight into university life.  At Warrington, the university provides a close knit community campus offering innovative, forward-looking courses with a close eye on employability.
“The Warrington Campus features a dynamic creative industries hub, which includes the state-of-the-art North West Media Centre.  It’s also home to the highly successful Warrington Wolves Sporting Academy.
“We have a lot to boast about and welcome the opportunity to show people!”
