Twin Town visit lined-up

A PARTY of more than 70 people from Lymm’s Twin town, Meung-sur-Loire, will be visiting the village during the last week of April to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the twinning charter between the two communities.
The group will range from founder members, now in their 80s, to young families making their first visit to Lymjm.
Most will arrive via Manchester Airport early on Saturday afternoon, April 25, where they will be met by their hosts for the five-day visit. But some will travel by car.
Later that afternoon there will be an informal welcome reception at Lymm Hall.
After a free day with hosts on Sunday, there will be a full day’s excursion to Chester on the Monday with a guided visit to the cathedral, lunch at Chester Racecourse, an open-top bus tour of the city and a boat trip on the River Dee.
On the Tuesday evening visitors and hosts will attend an official reception and dinner at Statham Lodge Hotel, at which Lymm Parish Council chairman, Cllr Kathryn Buckley, will be a guest. After the meal there will be musical entertainment.
The French party will leave on the Wednesday afternoon, with a date set for the 48th reunion in France in 2016.
The Twin Town Society has set up a new link between Lymm Rugby Club and the newly-formed rugby club near our twin town, “punningly” called the “O’Val de Loire”, a reference to the game’s oval ball. A delegation of three mini-rugby coaches will visit Lymm at more or less the same time as the main exchange, staying for three nights, each hosted by a Lymm RFC coach.
Their hosts will take them to watch the Premiership fixture at Salford between Sale Sharks and Harlequins and the visitors will also visit the Minis at Lymm Rugby Club, including watching the under 8s Cheshire Cup Final.
The aim is to establish strong links between the two clubs and to plan future fixtures together. The coaches from the young French club are keen to draw on and learn from the development and 50-years experience of Lymm RFC.
