WARRINGTON Wolves’ poor form continued as they crashed to their fourth consecutive league defeat going down 14-22 to Castleford Tigers – who recorded their first win on the road this season.ryan-atkins-try1
The Wolves were given an early warning from an early Jordan Tansey unconverted try in the corner but responded through two tries in three minutes from Stefan Ratchford and Ryan Atkins, with Gareth O’Brien landing one of the extras.
But a Luke Dorn  converted try levelled it at 10-10 by the break.
But the Tigers roared back with second-half tries from Adam Milner, his first of the season, and Ben Roberts.
Kevin Penny pulled one back for Warrington, but the kick was missed and Cas held on to win.
Luke Gale kicked three out of four conversions for visitors, while O’Brien was only successful with one kick for the Wolves.
Last year’s man of steel Daryl Clark was used off the bench after half an hour against his old club.
After the match Wolves’ boss Tony Smith was quick to praise fans for their ongoing support.
“We are hurting a whole lot at the moment and so are the fans.
“The amount of people who stayed behind and encouraged the players after the game was enormous.
“One of the things I would like to say is that since I have been here the fans have supported us through thick and thin. We are going througha thin period at moment. It is a good time for us all to stick together and we will repay them for their faith.”
